Game Critic ‘Totalbiscuit’ Dies
Totalbiscuit, real name John Bain, has died at the age of 33. Totalbiscuit was one of gaming’s most popular and influential figures. He provided some of the world’s best gaming reviews. Bain passed on 24 May 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Read on.
John Totalbiscuit Bain’s Cause of Death
In 2014, Bain revealed that he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer. At the time he was going under chemotherapy and received radiation treatment. But, on the following year Bain made an announcement that his cancer was terminal. In 2017, he announced that it had spread to his spine and liver. However, that did not break the YouTube mogul. Totalbiscuit continued to work on his channel and also The Co-Optional Podcast. But, this year due to conventional treatment methods which became ineffective, Bain announced that he was retiring from being a critic and producing gaming reviews.
John Bain had more than a decade in his career as a game personality and critic. Totalbiscuit gained popularity for covering professional casting of games like PlanetSide 2 and StarCraft 2, and also reviewing PC software. Totalbiscuit had more than 2.2 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, which was home to his game impressions and podcasts. Totalbiscuit was also one of the top curators listed on steampowered.com with over 800k followers.
Wife to Take Over Legacy
Bain expressed in hopes that his wife, Genna Bain, would take over his podcast when he was gone.
“I fully expect The Co-optional Podcast to go on and I love the thought that once I’m gone, the channels will go on in my absence, hosted by the person who knows me best and has been with me for the better part of my adult life,” said Bain.
“It’s been a privilege…Thank you all for letting me into your life and do something so important as to have an impact on how you spend your hard-earned money,” he added.
Genna posted about his passing on Twitter, saying “Rest in Peace my Dearest Love, John @Totalbiscuit Bain.” Her heartfelt message was accompanied by a poem.
Bain was born in July 8 1984 and died on May 24, 2018.
