Game of the Week – Book of Doom
Belatra Games is an up and coming online pokies provider at Australian online casinos. Many of their games are similar to popular games you see from Microgaming and Real Time Gaming. This time around, Belatra has released Book of Doom, their latest Egyptian-themed online pokie.
Learn more about this game, including the lucrative free games feature and the popular Buy feature.
Belatra Games Goes to Egypt with Book of Doom
Book of Doom is a 5 Reel, 10 payline pokie from Belatra Games. The game features an Egyptian theme with the standard symbols that you’d expect from such a game. Payable symbols include Royals, Egyptian totems, statues, an Egyptian Queen, and an adventurer.
The Book of Doom serves both as a Wild and as the scatter for the game. It is a payable symbol, paying when you hit two or more on a payline. For this game, you have to hit four of a kind or more on Royals and three of a kind on other symbols to turn a profit on a single spin.
This game has some massive potential payouts. Five of Kind will get you between 100 to 150 credits while the highest paying symbols pay up to 5,000 credits on 5 of a kind. You’ll need to hit multi-line winners to build to big prizes. There’s also a free games feature that will help you generate big wins.
After each spin, you have the option to gamble your winnings on the Risk game. It is a simple game where you pick a card. You have two risk options here. The standard is to pick whether the card will be red or black. This pays 2x your bet.
Your other option is to bet on which suit will be selected (hearts, spades, clubs, or diamonds). Select the correct suit and get 4x your bet. You can continue risking your bet as many times as you like. However, you will be risking all of your winnings with each play.
Free Games Feature
Land three or more of the Book of Doom on the board and you will unlock the free games feature. You’ll get 10 free spins and before your spins, a symbol will become a Super symbol. When a Super symbol lands on a reel, it will expand to fill the whole reel.
Also, if you land three or more scatters during the free spins game, you’ll trigger 10 additional spins up to a max of 150 spins.
We got lucky and hit this feature on our third spin and had quite the run of luck. We made about 65x our bet on the game.
This game has a Buy feature that will allow you to immediately play the free spins game. However, the Buy feature will cost you 88x your initial bet, so this can get costly if you use it frequently.
We didn’t get a chance to test out this feature as it is only available for real money pokie play.
We did notice that the feature frequency is 1:186 in the standard game, meaning that over time, you’ll spend less to buy the free games feature directly.
Book of Doom a Generally Uninspiring Game With High Volatility
Overall, I was not impressed by this game. The base game is somewhat generic with average graphics and sounds. The only “exciting” thing about the game is when the reels speed up when you have two scatters on the screen. Even the free games feature is somewhat uninspiring. You get some free games with the reels sometimes expanding.
Also, this game has high volatility. You are not going to have many smaller wins. I got lucky and hit a nice win in the free spins game, but otherwise, this game didn’t pay out much. This is definitely not a game you want to play to try and clear an online casino bonus.
