The Houston Rockets came from behind to grab a much-needed 95-92 Game 4 victory over the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena on Wednesday. The win means that the Warriors and Rockets are now tied 2-2 in the series. Two additional games will be added to the series to determine who will go on to the NBA Final.
Golden State Warriors Throw Game Away
It is very difficult for a team to come back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, more so when their opponent is arguably the best team in the league. Despite dominating early stages of the game, the Warriors were denied a Game 4 victory due to their own missed chances. The reigning NBA champions were unable to execute 15 of their 18 shots in the final period due to a hard-working Rockets’ defence.
Rockets’ point guards, Chris Paul and James Harden, were able to capitalize on their team’s stellar defensive efforts, scoring a combined total of 57 points throughout the game. Paul and Harden, who were both heavily criticized for their Game 3 efforts, have now made sure that the Rockets still have a chance to go on to win the Western Conference title.
Golden State Warriors Favoured to Retain Title
Prior to the game, sports bookies placed extremely high odds on Warriors advancing through to the NBA final, and even retaining the title. So much so, that bets placed on the Warriors yielded very low returns.
This decision has been made after the Warriors were able to rack up a 126-85 win over the Rockets in Game 3. However, now that the Warriors have suffered a Game 4 loss against the Rockets (albeit in an unusual manner) it will be interesting to see how sports bookies have shifted the team’s odds.
