Winx, the Champion thoroughbred race horse, has been given the go ahead by trainer Chris Waller to participate in the Flemington race for the first time. This confirmation was made even though Sydney is hosting its opening of the Everest next month.
All About Winx
Winx’s trainer and owner, confirmed that the mare would be on the move to Melbourne to which she will be participating in the group 1 Turnbull Stakes on the 7th of October. This will be the six-year-old’s final run before she makes an attempt at adding a third Cox Plate to her collection.
Winx to date, has won 20 races straight. Although this is not her first rodeo at Cox Plate, Winx has never started in a Flemington race before. The Flemington is considered to be one of Australia’s top racetracks.
Waller views the three-week break between the Cox Plate to be a flawless situation. Reason being is that he is looking to run Winx in an inflated Craven Plate so as to compliment her race at Randwick only a week later. This horse race is the Everest race, which looks to fetch AU$10 million for the winner.
Preparation for Turnbull Stakes
Once Winx has been dressed in her gear her ear muffs will be removed ahead of the Turnbull Stakes.
A statement from Waller reveals that the only reason that Winx is appearing in the Turnbull Stakes is simply because of the timing of the program. He states that she will have three weeks between the George Main race and Turnbull. In addition, she will have another three weeks after Turnbull to prepare for the Cox Plate.
Waller explains that he will always look at what is best for Winx and her needs, stating that he is always mindful of how she is received at races. Finally, he states that despite everything else, her longevity is the most imperative aspect that he must keep in mind. Which is why she does limited racing throughout her preparation period.
We at Sun Vegas Casino look forward to seeing Winx perform in the Everest race in Flemington. We also wish all of our sports bettors the best of luck when placing wagers, may the odds be in your favour!
