In order to qualify as the shooter in live craps, you have to make a bet either on Pass or Don’t Pass. After initial bets are placed in a round of craps, the shooter makes the come-out roll. This is the first roll in a round of craps.
If a shooter rolls a 7 or 11, then they have rolled a “natural” and are an automatic winner. If they roll a 2, 3, or 12, then the roll is a loser and the round is over. When the shooter rolls any other number, this establishes the point.
The shooter must then roll again to try and hit that point. If they hit the point, the round is over and anyone that bet on Pass is also a winner. Should the shooter roll a 7, this is called sevening-out. The round is over and bets on Pass are losers.
If the shooter doesn’t make their point and they don’t roll a seven, then they will roll again to try and match the point. This continues until either the shooter hits their point or sevens-out.

- Hardways – Bets on doubles, such as double fours for an eight.
- Place – After a point is established, you can bet on the next number rolled.
- Buy – Same as a place bet, but has better odds.
- Field – You’re betting the next roll will be 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12
There are also various proposition bets you can make that are determined by the next roll of the dice.
- Any 7 – Shooter rolls a 7 and you get 4 to 1 on your money
- Any 3 or 11 – Shooter rolls an 11 and you get 15 to 1
- Craps – Get 7 to 1 when craps are rolled
