How It Works
The objective of Blackjack is for the player to achieve a hand that holds a numerical value which comes the closest to, but does not exceed, the number 21. If the player’s hand is closer to the dealer’s (the software) in this respect, the player wins. Alternatively, if the dealer’s hand exceeds 21, or “Goes Bust”, the player also wins. The most superior hand in this game is, of course, the Blackjack, which is a 21-value hand comprised of an Ace, which is denoted as having the value of 11, and a 10-denotation card or a Face-card which bears the value of 10 (i.e., King, Queen, and Jack). The Blackjack is the strongest card in the game, and can only be matched by another Blackjack hand, but never beaten.
Both single-hand and multi-hand variations of Internet Blackjack are available on Sun Vegas Internet Casino, which are played from both sing and multiple standard 52-card decks or unique variations, both of which are shuffled before each game. |

How to play Blackjack
The object of blackjack is to get a combined value of cards as close to 21 as possible without going over and beat the dealer's total. Numbered cards are worth their face value. Face cards - Kings, Queens and Jacks - are each worth 10. Aces are worth either 1 or 11, whichever is better in the circumstances.
If the total value of your cards exceeds 21, you "bust", which means you lose. If your total is less than or equal to 21 and the dealer's total is over 21, then the dealer busts and you win. If neither your total or the dealer's total exceeds 21, then the higher total wins. In the event of a tie, no one wins and no one loses. A tie is called a "push".
You start the game by placing your bet. Next the dealer deals two cards to you and one to himself. Usually these cards are dealt face-up. Then the dealer gives himself a second card face-down. This is called the hole card. Now you have to make a decision: do you take another card ("hit") or pass to the dealer ("stand" or "stay"). If you hit, the dealer gives you another card and again asks if you want to hit or stand. You keep hitting until you are satisfied with your total or you bust. The dealer must keep taking cards until he has 17 or more.
Blackjack Tips:
- Remember that you need to beat the dealer to win. Player often forget this and concentrate on getting 21 – watch the dealer's hand as well as yours.
- Keep in mind that the dealer has the advantage because you play first. Even if the dealer busts, you'll bust first.
- Always split aces.
- Never split face cards, 10's or 5's
