Game of the Week – Return to the Feature
Return to the Feature is the latest 5-Reel online pokie game from Habanero. The game is advertised as a “retro blast” but comes across more like a knockoff of Back to the Future. Regardless, the game is a fun game with a ton of features that can help you score some big wins.
Return to the Feature A Retro Thrill Ride
Return to the Feature is the latest Habanero pokie featuring a retro 80s vibe with a lot of features that give a clear nod to Back to the Future. It has a mix of low and high-paying symbols. The low-paying symbols are Royals while the high-paying symbols are cassette tapes, a futuristic girl, sneakers, and a walkman.
The sportscar is the wild for the game and substitutes for everything except the scatter and Money symbol. You need to hit multi-line wins to have a shot at turning a profit. Fortunately, there are several features that will help you win big.
Free Games Feature
The Time Machine Gear Shift is the scatter for this game. If you get three or more on the board, you will get 10, 20, or 100 free spins. There are no extra features available during the free games but it does appear that you’ll get more chances of higher-paying symbol wins or multiple reels full of the same symbol.
I was able to trigger this feature a couple of times and it paid off handsomely both times. It definitely takes a while to trigger naturally, but it can definitely be worth it.
Once you have triggered the free games feature at least once normally, you will activate the Rewind symbol. This is the second scatter for the game. Get three or more symbols on the board and you will trigger the past one, two, or three saved features.
The spins that won during the Rewind feature are played again. During those spins, prizes can be doubled at random and all ways pays can be activated at random.
Note that up to 7 previous triggered features will be saved. Once a feature is activated in the Rewind feature, it is removed from the save list.
This feature was incredibly tough to trigger. After triggering the free spins feature twice, it finally hit and replayed one of my features. I was lucky enough to get double winnings, which gave me a nice win, but if not for the Double winnings, the feature would not have been worth waiting for.
Money Re-Spin Feature
The Money symbols will appear at random during the base game with each symbol paying out the amount shown in the symbol. If three or more symbols appear on the real in one spin, you will trigger the Money Re-Spin Feature.
During this feature, all symbols are replaced by Money symbols. Only Money symbols and blank symbols are available. You’ll start with four re-spins. Each time a money symbol lands on the board, your spins will reset to 4.
If you manage to get all 15 symbols filled with Money symbols, you will get a 10x multiplier. I was only able to get to this feature in the Buy feature. It proved disappointing, but only because the buy feature was quite expensive.
If you don’t want to trigger the features naturally, you can pay to trigger them. The features are as follows:
- 3 Scatters – You’ll get three scatters and 10 free spins.
- 4/5 Scatters – You will get either four or five scatters for 20 or 100 spins.
- Money Re-Spin – You can trigger the Money Re-Spin feature.
The buy feature is really sporadic. For the Money Re-Spins, I lost big. The scatter spins provided mixed results. The 4/5 scatters will probably be your best bet if you plan to use this often as you have a chance for up to 100 free spins.
Return to the Feature A Fun Retro Game With Solid RTP
One thing that stands this game apart from others is that the RTP is published for the main game and the buy features. The base RTP for this game is 96.8%, which is a lot higher than many pokies we review. The RTP for the buy features are as follows:
- 3 Scatters – 96.59%
- 4/5 Scatters – 96.86%
- Money Re-Spin – 96.61%
As I stated earlier, the 4/5 Scatters is your best Buy feature bet because you can get up to 100 free spins. Overall, you can’t really go wrong with this game. Overall, the game is a medium variance pokie, but you have to stick with it. Short sessions will experience higher variance – at least from my testing.
This game is a great retro romp for anyone that loves retro pokies and pokies with high RTPs. This game can be found at Wild Card City, King Johnnie Casino, and all online casinos in Australia offering Habanero pokies.
