Throughout Australia, there are few pokies as popular as the Dragon Link series. Available in land-based casinos, these pokies offer users the chance to win a variety of jackpots, including the lucrative Dragon Link progressive grand jackpot. In this article we will cover the range of games on offer and also suggest online pokies which offer a similar experience.

Dragon Link - Pokies by Aristocrat

Aristocrat is well known for their linked jackpot series, and few have proved as popular in Australia as the Asian-themed Dragon Link pokies since their launch in 2017. These games include familiar features such as free spins and bonus rounds, but what really sets them apart is the shared Dragon Link jackpot system. Depending on the game and venue, players can chase prizes of more than $50,000 from bets starting at just $0.01 per line.

Playing the Dragon Link Games

There is no way to try Dragon Link pokies online for free, which is fairly common with linked jackpot games. If you want to give one of the Dragon Link titles a spin, you’ll need to visit a land-based casino that offers them. The exact games available will vary from one venue to another. However, Aristocrat currently has 10 pokie titles featuring the Dragon Link jackpot mechanic. These are:

Autumn Moon
Genghis Khan
Golden Century
Golden Gong
Happy and Prosperous
Panda Magic
Peace and Long Life
Peacock Princess
Silk Road
Spring Festival

How the Dragon Link Pokies Work

Each of the Dragon Link pokie games has unique gameplay. Though they do have differences, they all share the Dragon Link bonus game, with the same bonus offered across all versions. To trigger this bonus, you need to land six or more coin bonus symbols.

From here, the Dragon Link bonus works pretty similarly to the Hold and Win bonuses available through many online pokie games, as you’re given three free respins on a special set of reels where the coin symbols are sticky. These coin symbols can feature a fixed value or the mini, minor, or major jackpot, and each time they land, your respins are reset back to three.

If you manage to fill up the grid, you score the progressive grand jackpot. Otherwise, the value of all coin symbols and collected jackpots are tallied up and awarded to you as your prize.

Available Bets in Ins Video Pokie

Since you can’t play Dragon Link online pokies for free, you’ll always need to make a real money bet to play them. The exact bet limits will vary from machine to machine. However, the general ranges are $0.01 to $2 per payline, with 25 to 50 paylines on offer.

Graphics and Sounds of the Dragon Link Pokie Games

I may be spoiled by online pokies, but the graphics and sounds of a Dragon Link aren’t all that special for me. The art style is not as engaging as that of other pokies online, and the sound effects in the base game are not the most compelling. Typically, there is no music playing, though this does change once you reach the Dragon Link bonus game. And I will give Aristocrat credit in this area, as the sudden inclusion of music does make the bonus feel more special.

Win in Dragon Link Pokie Games

While the mini and minor jackpots change based on your bet size, the progressive major and grand jackpots in Dragon Link pokies stay the same regardless of how much you bet. Because of this, these pokies are designed to award these progressive jackpots more often the higher you bet.

Dragon Link Online Pokies – RTP and Volatility

Typically, most Dragon Link pokies have a medium level of volatility. Working out the RTP, however, is more difficult as the casino themself has a degree of control over what it will be. Because of this, many users wonder, ‘Is Dragon Link safe to play?’

Fortunately, the answer here is much more reassuring. While these games do allow their RTP to be toggled, they still have fixed upper and lower limits. So while exact metrics are unknown, they can never be too low and are therefore safe to play.

Play Dragon Link Pokies Using Your Mobile

Dragon Link pokies cannot be played through mobile devices. Though if you’re after an unbeatable mobile pokies experience, we recommend you play with mobile pokie apps that we’ve certified as legitimate.

Alternatives Online Pokies to Dragon Link Pokies

While there are no Dragon Link online pokies, Aussie online casinos do offer alternative pokies that bear similarities to Dragon Link games.

Sakura Riches 60 is a personal favourite of mine, as in addition to that familiar Asian theme, it offers an unbelievable 97.16% RTP. Roll the Pearls Hold & Win is another good pick, as while it may look different on the surface, it features a Hold and Win mechanic similar to the Dragon Link bonus game, as well as jackpots. However, for the best of both worlds, 88 Fortunes has to take the cake. Blending an Asian theme with Hold and Win bonuses and jackpot wins – it’s the most similar pokie to a Dragon Link series of games in my opinion.

But these are just the tip of the iceberg, and we’ve reviewed lots of similar online pokies that are available at Aussie online casinos.

Our Thoughts on the Dragon Link Pokie Games

If you’re heading out to the casino for a night out, you can’t go wrong with Dragon Link. With potentially massive wins up for grabs, they’re usually a pretty popular choice at land-based casinos. Personally though, I prefer online pokies. RTP is superior, themes are more varied, and bonuses come in all shapes and sizes.
