Pokies with a North American wildlife theme, such as Wolf Treasure, are hugely popular. IGT has made this game stand out by adding a Hold and Spin-style bonus feature plus an unusual free spins bonus. Wolf symbols are wild; they will howl at the moon when they create wins with symbols that include a mustang, eagle, buffalo, and mountain lion.
During the Wolf Treasure free spins bonus, the middle three reels merge. Single giant symbols give you a shot at triggering many of the 25 paylines on every spin.

Wolf Treasure uses a fixed 25-payline setup over a 5×3 reel grid. Bets are in increments of 25c, with the max bet a giant $25 per spin. You will see three jackpots above the reels. These are fixed amounts which increase in proportion to your bet size. They can be won during the respin bonus, which is triggered by hitting six or more moon symbols anywhere in view.
The scatter symbols in Wolf Treasure depict a rock formation with a spectacular sunrise. Three of them will trigger the free spins bonus. This feature can be retriggered indefinitely and has giant symbols for plenty of line hits.
Wolf Treasure returns 96% of bets to players – a higher score than most other online pokies for real money. Keep in mind that jackpot prizes make the returns more volatile. Those occasional ‘Mega’ jackpots will give your bankroll a significant boost. Conversely, the real returns are smaller in sessions where you don’t trigger a jackpot prize.
Wild symbols in the base game plus two bonus features keep your wins coming in on Wolf Treasure.
Hold and Spin style bonuses were created by Aristocrat on their famous Lightning Link pokies. Since then, all slot studios have been adding them.
To trigger the Hold and Spin on Wolf Treasure, you need to hit six of the moon symbols anywhere on the reels. They can be stacked, covering all three positions on a reel. Each shows a cash prize or the name of a jackpot. These prizes are multiples of your coin bets. After an animation showing a howling wolf, you get three respins to add more moons. Each time you hit one or more extra moons, your respins reset to three. Fill the reels with them and you’ll win the Mega jackpot in addition to the cash amounts shown.
Hit scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 to get 5 free spins. For those spins, the middle three reels become on giant one. If you are lucky enough to match that symbol with reels one and five, you could earn up to 25 wins per spin. Hit three more scatters to retrigger, with no limit to the number of retriggers available.
As you might have already guessed, Wolf symbols are key to big wins in the Wolf Treasure pokie. They are wild in more ways than one. They connect wins with all the other symbols, howling at the moon as your line hits are totalled. Other high-paying symbols include buffalo, eagles, mustang, and mountain lions. The standard bold playing card symbols are used as fillers.
During the Wolf Treasure free spins, wolves on the merged middle reels are extra valuable. This will give you four-of-a-kind wins with any regular symbols on reel one, with a shot at the big prize: five-of-a-kind wins.
Moon symbols in Wolf Treasure only pay when you get six or more on a single spin. On many spins, they will block the regular win-lines – with long ‘anticipation spins’ triggering while you wait to see if you get the bonus. Scatter symbols only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5, making them less likely to block your regular line hits.
IGT has designed Wolf Treasure with mobile casino play in mind. The spin button is big and positioned perfectly for your thumb when your phone is in landscape view. Settings including quick spin, sound and ambient sound effects are hidden behind an information button, keeping them out of view until needed.
Wolf Treasure is available in free play format at the leading online casinos. With so many real money pokies to choose from, checking them for free is a popular way to narrow the field. Not only will it give you the chance to assess whether it works well with your mobile devices, but the opportunity to try out the bonus features too.
The combination of a hold and spin bonus, jackpots and a giant-symbol free spins game make this a solid and enjoyable IGT pokie.
North American wildlife pokies are a crowded niche, and Wolf Treasure is one of many games competing for attention. The category is dominated by Aristocrat’s Buffalo pokies range, while IGT has produced multiple titles with similar themes, including the iconic Wolf Run.
Wolf Treasure has a solid and enjoyable base game. Wilds are frequent enough to keep your wins coming while you wait for the two different bonuses to begin. The first is a free spins bonus. Reels 2, 3, and 4 merge to become one giant reel, boosting your chances of big wins. The hold and spin style bonus adds excitement. Hit six moons to win cash prizes, and even big jackpots.
